One of our cherished long-term residents.

This beautiful girl was once facing being put to sleep because of a condition called “cross beak,” where her top and bottom beak grew in different directions. But we knew she deserved the chance of a happy life – and that’s exactly what we’ve given her.

Rebel eats perfectly well, but to ensure she gets every bit of nutrition she needs, she also has her own special “soup” – a blend of fruits, veggies, and supplements that she can easily lap up.

She’s full of character, follows you everywhere, and if she gets the chance… she’ll sneak straight into the house to see what snacks she can find!

Everyone deserves the chance to thrive – and Rebel is living proof of that.

MORRIS

Our beloved elder.

This handsome gentleman has been here longer than we have – in fact, he’s the reason it all began. Morris and his brother, Malcolm, lived here before us and quickly became known as the cheeky pair of “naughty boys.”

Earlier this year, we sadly said goodbye to Malcolm. In his later years, Malcolm lost his sight, and Morris never left his side – gently guiding him and helping him navigate each day. Their bond was truly unbreakable.

Now, in his golden years, Morris spends his days enjoying the sunshine, eating well, snoozing peacefully, and occasionally reminding everyone he’s still got a playful side by chasing the girls. He may prefer his quiet moments now, but he’ll always remain an important part of the flock.

SPIKE

A duck swimming in a body of water.

Spike’s story began when he was discovered as an egg by Riyadh and lovingly raised in his London home. Along the way, Spike captured hearts online and built a huge social media following.

When he grew up, Riyadh reached out to us so Spike could enjoy life as a proper countryside mallard rather than a city duck. His journey has continued to be shared online, and he’s now happily settled here.

True to his character, Spike is a little on the lazy side—he often needs the promise of a mealworm to coax him out of bed in the mornings! He also has a sweet runner duck girlfriend, Puddles, and we’re hopeful that one day he may become a proud dad.

JINGLE

Close-up of a young turkey in a grassy area.

Jingle was raised on an ethical farm, originally intended to be a Christmas turkey. We respect that farmers need to make a living and that Christmas turkeys are part of tradition—but when we can step in to make a difference, we do.

Instead of ending up on a plate, Jingle came to live with us as a beloved pet. She’s still young, but she’s thriving with her new feathered family and will spend her life here safe, loved, and cherished.

She’s settled in wonderfully—always happy, always curious, and often found right at our feet, following us around like the little lady she is.

LUCY

Close-up of a white swan with a long neck and orange beak, swimming in water.

Lucy arrived here through an auction, alongside her little sister who, sadly, was unwell when she came to us and couldn’t be saved. While her sister is deeply missed, Lucy has grown into a strong and thriving young lady with plenty of princess energy.

She’s quite the diva at bedtime—refusing to go in on her own and insisting on being carried, which we’re fairly sure is just her way of demanding extra cuddles. She’s formed a bond with the Pekins and, unexpectedly, has taken on the role of guard goose… against seagulls of all things! Not what we had planned, but we’ll take it.

True to her dramatic nature, Lucy is a noisy girl who loves to make her presence known, yet she’s also endearingly timid—scared of most things, but in the sweetest way possible

TIMOTHY

Timothy came to us all the way from Bath—by train! Sadly, no one in his area was able or willing to help him, and it was even suggested that he should be put to sleep. But when we heard about him from his amazing rescuer, Amy, we knew he deserved a chance. There was nothing truly wrong with him medically—just a duck who needed love, care, and safety.

Tim had been badly bullied by other birds and geese, arriving nearly featherless, underweight, and looking heartbreakingly sad. Apart from a case of bumblefoot—which we treated straight away—we knew he could recover.

Now, just a few months later, Timothy has made an incredible transformation. He’s grown most of his feathers back, though he has some permanent scarring on his wings, meaning he may never be fully feathered again. Still, he is 90% better and looks absolutely beautiful.

Timothy is a quiet soul, keeping mostly to himself, but each day he grows more confident around the other ducks. He’s even claimed a cozy little bed in the reeds as his own.

We adore him—and he is living proof that no one should ever be given up on. Timothy’s story reminds us that every life is worth saving.

CRASH

Close-up of a black and white duck with a greenish beak, standing on a bed of straw.

This handsome lad arrived with us in a very sorry state. He had been hit by a car in a local village and left for dead. Thankfully, he was spotted by one of our wonderful supporters, Maisie, who always keeps an eye on the ducks in her area. She rushed him straight to us, and we immediately got him to the vet.

Incredibly, despite the accident, he had no broken bones—though he did suffer damaged ligaments and muscles. He needed weeks of rest, careful management, and plenty of TLC. For a while he lived in a small pen to restrict his movement, receiving regular pain relief and anti-inflammatories to support his healing.

Now, nearly a year later, he has made a full recovery. Today he’s a bright, bold, and hilarious little character—always dashing about, chasing after the ladies, and keeping himself busy. You’d never guess the state he was in when he first arrived.

PUMPKIN

Pumpkin is actually Leanne’s little boy 🤣. He came to us as a day-old duckling, hatched from a school project (something we definitely don’t agree with). Out of six eggs, only Pumpkin survived. The school didn’t want just one duckling and were even considering throwing him in the bin mid-hatch—which is truly shocking.

Thankfully, Pumpkin came to live with us instead and was hand-raised on his own. Because of this, he is extremely attached to Leanne and will often chase away anyone who tries to get too close to her. It’s both sweet and slightly unnecessary! Pumpkin is a fiery little character, full of love—though sometimes it comes out in a rather aggressive way.

DAVE

A close-up of a mallard duck standing on green grass with small purple flowers.

Dave is a truly beautiful, elderly gentleman who came to us alongside his long-standing companion, Patricia. Sadly, Dave was once placed on a euthanasia list, but thankfully he was brought to us instead, where he’s been given the chance to live out his days in safety and comfort.

Dave is around 90% blind, but aside from his eyesight he is in excellent health. He manages incredibly well despite his limited vision. He and Patricia (who herself only has one functioning leg) enjoy a few days each week free-ranging, before spending some quieter days resting together in the duck house.

Because of Dave’s sight, we try not to move things around inside the duck house—such as their paddling pools—so he always knows where everything is. Although he does occasionally bump into things, he’s never truly alone; Patricia or their friend Morris will usually walk with him, helping him to keep his bearings.

We absolutely adore Dave—he is such a gentle soul, and he gives the very best cuddles.

FLUFFY

A group of ducks, including one white duck standing in a small blue paddling pool with cartoon duck images, outdoors on green grass. Some ducks are wet and splashing water.

This gorgeous big lad is truly one of a kind. He came to us with his siblings after they were dumped at a water treatment plant. Being a non-flying domestic breed, they never would have survived in the wild.

Fluffy—so named because it took him months to finally lose the fluffy baby feathers around his neck—has some challenges with his legs. They turn inwards from the hip, which makes walking and standing up a little difficult. But that doesn’t stop him one bit! He loves to wander about, and even more than that, he adores swimming.

When Fluffy first arrived, it was during the Bird Flu “flockdown,” so he couldn’t go near the pond. But once he finally got access, he absolutely thrived. Swimming has helped him build strength and muscle, and he’s gone from strength to strength ever since.

We are so proud of this boy—and of course, his favourite part of the day is still bedtime cuddles, which we are always more than happy to give. 💛
